Product Description

Newest addition to our range of premium stainless steel absinthe spoons is an accurate replica of a traditional spoon called Les Cuilleres. This exquisite long absinthe spoon is a handmade high-quality stainless steel replica of one of the earliest absinthe spoon designs. It contains heart-shaped grills in the middle of the handle, which are used to retain the sugar cube during traditional absinthe preparation.

Some of the larger absinthe glasses can only be used with this type of spoons. Used for serving absinthe in the time-honored way these absinthe spoons are made by Absinthe Original. We only use top grade stainless steel to make our absinthe spoons as this material makes the spoons durable for a long lifetime. This stainless steel absinthe spoon looks good, feels good.

Absinthe serving instructions
First, pour roughly three ounces of absinthe into a heavy parfait-style stemmed absinthe glass. A perforated absinthe spoon (sometimes very elaborately so) is set upon the rim of the glass and on the spoon is placed a cube of sugar. Ice-cold water is ever so slowly dripped from a glass carafe designed specifically for that purpose, onto the cube. The sugar dissolves and you continue pouring until the ratio of absinthe to water is about two to five parts, depending upon your taste and fortitude. Give the absinthe drink a spin with the spoon and drink like you dripped - slowly.

Did you know that...?
There is an evidence that unscrupulous absinthe producers in the nineteenth century, in an effort to lower their costs, added a variety of toxic chemicals to their absinthe - such as a copper compound used to provide a green color.
