This was my FIRST ever sampling of the famed green fairy spirit; absinthe. Unfortunately, my original order was subject to an anomalous error in transit; this is NOT the fault of La Boheme, but merely a comedy of errors. As I write this, after a momentary "delay" my order came through. Alas, the Australian Customs service, left a very bitter taste in my mouth; but this is as they say... beside the point.
Having heard various views of this famed spirit, I decided to obtain the most serviceable and easy operation, a gift box. Not experienced it before, it was difficult to pour; on account of substituting the glass (see above) and as a result, my first decanting; was poor at best. This minor upset did nothing to put me off savouring the pleasant bitterness; delicate in its undertones that entered and danced on the palate. Having a rain water tank and filters, my water is nothing short of pure in its own right, refrigerated suiting my tastes, the dilution of the spirit happened as slowly as one could expect and tasting began.
It was everything I had hoped for; not overly bitter, not "potent" it warmed to me; none of the famed hallucinations kicked in, because it wasn't a proper preparation; not that they would appear... it is all subjective. If by now you have read the extent of this review and not bored; you may do well to try some yourself. Beauty comes to those who seek it, happy drinking. I will CERTAINLY be partaking on a frequent basis this very alluring and entrancing spirit, favourite of mine!
